HELPING YOU TO FIND YOUR COTTAGE

Directions to Benar Cottages

Finding your way to Benar Cottages is easy, but if you are using satnav, you will need more than just our postcode to direct you here. Our postcode LL24 0PS centres on Tyddyn Gethin – which is a farm half a mile in the wrong direction.

  • You will pass through the towns of Llangollen and Corwen, and the villages of Cerrigydrudion and Pentrefoelas.
  • After driving past the turning for Ysbyty Ifan B4407, stay on the A5 for a further 3.5 miles
  • After some sharp bends, you will see a big green road sign showing the B4406 for Penmachno
  • Turn left onto the B4406 by the Conwy Falls Cafe
Directions to the gate

If you are travelling up from South Wales on the A470, we would advise you to continue through Blaenau Ffestiniog.

There is an alternative single-track / hilltop route on the B4407 but we would advise you to avoid it: it is not for the faint hearted!

  • Where the A470 meets the A5 just south of Betws-y-Coed, turn right and continue south-east on the A5 towards Llangollen
  • After 1.7 miles and some sharp bends you will pass the Silver Fountain pub on your left
  • When you see the Conwy Falls Cafe on your right, turn right onto the B4406 for Penmachno
Directions to the gate
  • At the junction with the A5 / A470 just south of Betws-y-Coed, continue south-east on the A5 towards Llangollen
  • After 1.7 miles and some sharp bends you will pass the Silver Fountain pub on your left
  • When you see the Conwy Falls Cafe on your right, turn right onto the B4406 for Penmachno

And Finally: the B4406…

Follow the B4406 towards Penmachno for 1.5 miles. On the way you will see:

  •  A crossroads sign

  • A low-level stone wall on the right

  •  A warning sign

  • A lay-by on the right

  • A cattle warning sign

Shortly after that, you will see ARAF/SLOW road markings and the Penmachno 20 miles per hour signs in the distance.
Keep an eye out for the Benar Cottages sign on your right.

Drive through the gate, over the bridge and over a cattle grid.

Benar is surrounded by forest and farmland and access is via a short farm track and bridge. We advise guests to drive slowly across them. If you drive a sports car with only centimetres of ground clearance or you are unsure what we mean by “farm track” then please contact us.
