Betws-y-coed

There’s a surprising hustle and bustle in Betws-y-coed which is hardly surprising: for a village, it really does have something for everyone! Shops, restaurants, bars, cafes and amusements.

But the real magic happens when you return from a day of exploring to your own peaceful cottage at Benar. Betws-y-coed is just five minutes’ drive from Benar Cottages. Our traditional Welsh cottages sit in a quiet farm setting with breathtaking views of the surrounding hills, close to Betws-y-coed’s buzz – so you get the best of both worlds: adventure and calm, all in one place..

Whether you’re here for nature, food and drink in the village, or outdoor thrills – Betws-y-coed and the wider Eryri National Park deliver.

There are amazing walks, for example to Swallow Falls, Llyn Elsi or perhaps a more leisurely stroll around the golf course where you can sit and have a picnic by the river.

The famous Marin Trail for mountain bikers starts close by and takes you through the heart of the forest.

Outdoor shops will supply you with everything you need for your adventures further afield and if you’re looking for locally made crafts or some local Welsh food then there is a wide range of gift shops to choose from.

The bakery at the Spar will supply you sandwiches and fabulous cakes and there is a variety of places to eat and drink including cafés, bistros, restaurants and bars. For children, there’s the little steam railway train and the railway museum as well as the ice cream parlour.

Travel time from Benar Cottages: 10 minutes or walk from the door

There is certainly lots to do in Betws and the Benar Cottages Activities Folder contains several suggested walks which end there (you deserve a pie and a pint after all that hiking don’t you?) And if you don’t feel like walking back, jump on the bus and ask the driver to drop you back at Benar Cottages.

Our top tip before you set off: practise saying “Betws-y-coed” – we promise you it’s really easy…
